The Archive of Golden Age Romance Comics

GeorgeOnline tweeted about this wonderful archive this morning, created by a student, Jenny Miller, in his class a couple of years ago. It’s the best thing going for old romance comic scans.

Her blog, Heck’s Kitchen, is fun too.  Thanks, George!

MySpace goes fabric

Craft zine picked this up today from Dee Clements’ Paper Crane blog: embroidering My Space profiles onto hankies.

Will she get a cease and desist from MS? Sounds crazy I know, but then likewise how crazy is it that Mazzmatazz received something similar to a cease and desist from the BBC after offering free knitting patterns for characters from Dr. Who?

Please make the madness stop!

US Pirate Party Study Shatters MPAA Claims

US Pirate Party Study Shatters MPAA Claims | TorrentFreak

The MPAA has been throwing numbers around for years about how much money in dollars has been lost (by whom again?) to file sharing. Now the Pirate Party (organized fair use and copyleft advocates) has put a pin hole in their inflated figures.

Andrew Norton, Administrator of the Party, says “Prove your claims, or shut up about them.” After intense investigation of the MPAA’s own data, and the data of its members, Norton found no evidence to support the claims. “If I said I could turn lead into gold, I would be bombarded with requests to prove it. They have turned air into $6billion, and supposedly smart people accept it without question,” says Norton.

With Fair Use Day two days away on July 11th, now is the time for citizens to learn more about and celebrate their rights to cultural information exchange.

If you listen to the radio, like to read good books, or disagree with the “$70 billion gift” that taxpayers are giving to corporate broadcasters by switching to digital tv, now is the time to learn more and get involved.
